According to a study by ABI Research published today Android tablets have already dented the iPad’s market share to the tune of 20% over the last twelve months.

Samsung Galaxy Tab ban spreads to Europe


Last week Apple persuaded an Australian court to ban sales and promotion of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1. Now a court in Germany has also sided with Apple, resulting in an Europe-wide ban on sales of the device.

The World Bank? There’s an app for that!


The World Bank has been in the news rather a lot recently, and not always for the most salubrious of reasons, but the global financial institution seems to want to clean up its image and make itself more transparent to citizens everywhere. How better to do this than with a mobile app? Or, in the World Bank’s case of overkill, six iPhone/iPad apps, with a promise of “more great mobile applications” to come.

Yesterday Apple held their quarterly earnings call to announce their revenues for the last three months and, somewhat unsurprisingly, they managed another quarter or massive growth, huge profits and all-round good times.

Google releases next Android iteration


It only seems like a matter of weeks ago that Google released Android 3.1, which included some nice incremental updates to version 3.0, aka Honeycomb. The jump from 3 to 3.1 included scalable homescreen widgets and some browser speed improvements, and now 3.2 looks to build out Android’s featureset further.

Google now activating 500,000 Android devices per day


The days of Apple and Google’s tit-for-tat device activation race has long since passed with Google emerging the clear victor. The search giant’s Android operating system pulled ahead, somewhat inevitably, due to the broad range of devices available and, some would argue, its increasing quality compared the ageing iOS interface.
