Nokia N9 video leaks

.

*UPDATE: Although it looked like Symbian OS in the video, Nokia is now saying (on its Facebook page) that the phone is indeed running MeeGo. This will be welcome news for many who have long been waiting for the new OS to emerge on phones.*

A video of Nokia’s upcoming N9 smartphone has found its way into the hands of PocketNow.

The leaked video shows glimpses of a thin, stylish looking slider device complete with a full QWERTY keyboard and nice looking camera, though the few peeks at the screen seem to show Symbian Anna rather than MeeGo or Windows phone 7.

Few details are known about the next generation phone which follows up from Nokia’s N8, including the hardware specs, which have been kept tightly under wraps. In a last hat tip to now dumped partner Intel, Nokia could have opted for an Atom chip, although it really is more likely that the Finnish firm would have plumped for ARM, based on lower power consumption.

In terms of camera lens, many feel Nokia will either stick to, or one-up, its 12 megapixel masterpiece from the N8, making it a powerful point-and-shoot device to boot.

The rumor mill has it that the FCC says the device could be certified and ready to launch by June, so we may not have to wait long to see what the phone really has to offer. In the meanwhile, you’ll have to make do with the video below:

It needs the N8′s Xenon flash for me to really like that camera. LED flashes make pictures taken at night look pretty bad no matter how many MP the camera is. My N8 is extremely useful for taking pictures in low light.
